World Coin Trends – FAQ

Why did you choose cryptocurrency as an industry to showcase?

Cryptocurrency seems like an ideal starting place because there is so much fluctuation in the global altcoin market, and because the total number of coins with major market capitalization can be easily represented on a single Chart.

We also hope that by pairing this valuable trading resource with an appeal to offset carbon, we can educate the crypto community about the relative impact of cryptocurrency trading and mining.

What is the Lotus Chart?

The Lotus Chart is a 3-dimensional “spreadsheet on steroids.” It uses parametric geometry to create an elegant, intuitive representation of quantitative data. Unlike most other forms of data visualization, the Lotus Chart allows you to “drill down” and see details and hyperlinks pointing to further information about each record.

Who can benefit from the Lotus Chart?

To our knowledge, the Lotus Chart is the only existing tool that lets you preview and interact with 2,000 or more different securities on-screen at the same time. As such, the Lotus Chart has immediate and obvious applications for securities trading. In general, it is well suited to any dataset where both growth and total numbers are important.

If you are an e-commerce or brick-and-mortar retailer with more than 300 SKUs, or if you need to track sales growth and other metrics by location or by employee, you are an excellent fit. Simply put, the Lotus Chart gives you insights combining growth and total volume in real time, helping you to allocate resources and restock in response to the latest trends.

The chart is also a powerful tool for content discovery (music, video, or books) and for human resources and task management.

How can I be sure that my donations at crypto.lotus.fm are actually being used to offset carbon?

One of the reasons we chose Wren as a partner is their excellent reporting and their choice of projects, which include Amazon rainforest protection, tree planting, and carbon sequestering.

What do you mean when you say this user interface is “experimental”?

Key functionality, such as mobile and keyboard/assistive support, is still under development. Other important features, including full text search and a wider selection of view filters, will be added over time.

This is an entirely new type of user interface (UI) and as such it requires much more in the way of optimization and testing than a web application built from an existing framework. We have done our best to test across different browsers and operating systems. If you encounter a bug or unexpected behavior, please let us know.

Where do you get your data?

Our data for World Coin Trends comes from CoinMarketCap.

Is there a charge to use your service?

Based on present usage patterns, we are able to offer World Coin Trends free of charge.

What is next for the Lotus Chart?

We are developing a general purpose trading analytics app with full interactive market visualizations for stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies.

Is it possible to add a Lotus Chart to my own website?

Our cryptocurrency and other example charts are available for sharing via a free <iframe> embed. Simply contact us if you would like the embed code. Please note that at the present time the iframe will only display on devices with screen widths larger than 960 pixels. On tablets and smartphones, the content will be hidden.

How can I build a Lotus Chart for my own dataset?

Setup is easy for businesses and organizations of all sizes. If you are able to upload a spreadsheet to an online folder twice a week, we can do the rest. The Lotus Chart visualization also integrates seamlessly with REST (JSON) API’s and other dynamic data streams.
